Chapter 13

The Reunion

esner couldn’t sleep all night, he felt betrayed and heartbroken but there was a part of him that was glad, so pleased that she was alright. He felt like he could start afresh with her. Fate has given him another opportunity and he was not willing to take it likely. He rolled from one side of his bed to another, until he finally decided to stroll down to his mother’s chambers. He had the habit of going to stay by her side whenever he couldn’t sleep. He went into the first chamber and he was cleansed of every impurity and then he entered. He saw his mom in the fluid with many machines plugged to her. She still had that smirk on her face, she was like a little child in its mother’s womb.

“I love you Mom.” He whispered as he pulled out a blanket and lay it on the floor. He stared at his mom floating, looking about two decades younger. The progress of the rejuvenating fluid was evident, the wrinkles on his mom’s face were gone. He smiled at her and he closed his eyes. He slept off.

About four hours later Lesner was woken up by a creaking sound. He jumped to his feet and to his surprise it was his mom, she was alive in her capsule and was struggling to come out. Lesner punched the emergency eject button and his mom slide out, he grabbed her in his arms and used the blanket to cover her. He carried her in his arms joyfully, upstairs to her room. His dad who was studying at the time was startled and pleasantly surprised. He rushed and dressed the bed properly and Lesner laid her down and covered her with sheets. They both sat down by her side in excitement till dawn. Father and son sat by each other’s side, snoring when. Leslie Crawford woke up, she smiled and tapped both of them.

“Mom.” Lesner cried and hugged her. ‘’My son, why are you so sorrowful? Kelvin why are you crying?’’ she asked surprised. Her husband joined them in a tearful embrace. They sat her down and explained the whole ordeal: how she went into coma for more than a year and half. How Lesner had refused to give up on her. How they were excited to see her. She was so proud of her son.

‘’we raised our boy right.’’ she boasted with a tearful grin. ‘’my boy never gives up…we trained our Lesnie right’’ she sobbed. Lesner was so proud of himself, enjoying the comfort of his parents. For the first-time in years her felt truly grateful.

Emilia felt bad and she had planned to sneak out of the house. Her plan was to sneak out through the kitchen door. She tip-toed down stairs and made her way to the kitchen, but she was shocked at who she saw, it was Mrs. Crawford making breakfast. She was sure that she was hallucinating. Last time she heard that she had been in coma for more than a year and half. She was never one to believe in spirits but she was sure that she was seeing a spirit. Plus, she was looking younger, even she as a young child had never seen her this young. She felt the impulse to run or scream or shout or just anything. Maybe Mrs. Crawford was not happy with her for not being a good friend of the family. She made up her mind that she was not going to make a sound, but turn quietly and move away. She was implementing this plan when she heard the voice behind her.

“Emilia is that you? “Emilia turned reluctantly and faced the younger Mrs. Crawford beaming a smile at her. She was transfixed and mortified.

“it’s you… my Emi.” she cried hard and stole her into a very loving embrace. Emilia now realized that she was not a ghost, she cried painfully. Ivy came downstairs to see them both.

“Ivy!” Mrs. Crawford screamed and snatched her into an embrace. My two favorite girls, please don’t cry, am so happy to see you both. She embraced them for about few minutes. Mrs. Crawford, after hearing the narration of her ordeal from her husband and son. She was really happy to be alive and to have her family. Lesner had narrated some of Emilia’s travails and trials in life and she felt sorry for the young teenager.

Ivy and Emilia sat and ate their meal speechless, still astonished.

“Thank you both for standing by Lesnie through this trying time.” Mrs. Crawford said thankfully. Emilia started crying again, she now knew that she had been a jerk to her friend. She was so consumed with grieve and revenge that she hurt those who loved her dearly. She explained everything to Lesner’s mom. She hugged her hard, until she was felt consoled.

“Don’t worry, I would talk to him. He will come around.” She promised. ‘’the most important thing is that we all have to be thankful for what we have now. I couldn’t have imagined a better day than this. We love you and we will always will…’’
