Chapter 5
Speed.

5.1

Race.

There is not much entertainment in our remote places. Especially for youth.

When evening comes, in order to at least somehow brighten up everyday life, they have recently had a new fun.

There was a road behind the village. And on it, all the youth gathered. Foxes, beavers, hares, badgers, wolf cubs, even cubs.

Recently there has been a sharp rise in alchemy, and completely new carts have appeared on some kind of wonderful fuel. No horses!

At first, everyone could not believe their eyes, but progress stubbornly moved forward.

Of course, they were still very rare, but everyone saved up with all their might in order to have a miracle wagon.

Of course, with such a unit, young drivers dramatically increased the chances of success with the fair half.

And if there are several wagons, then naturally among them there is the first one with the best driver.

Thus, every evening on that road, the competition began. For the title of the best driver of the evening!

Local residents were going to look at such a wonderful performance in advance.

Lulu and I were no exception.

Having taken a suitable place, we began to observe with interest what was happening, how the preparations for the start were going.

Of course, everyone paid great attention to the technical side of things. Everyone understood, no matter how brave and skillful the driver was, if the cart was poorly prepared, nothing would help.

My attention was drawn to one wagon, which clearly stood out from the others. It was self-assembled, not purchased ready-made.

That is, the youth themselves, having studied all the secrets of a cunning device, managed to assemble such a wagon from literally any rubbish. What was unnecessary in their workshops!

So, the wagons lined up. Started the units.

The excitement grew, the signal to start was given. The wagons rushed forward, leaving happy spectators in clouds of dust.

- What an evening! exclaimed the young fox of the rows.

- Have you seen it? This is my brother over there in that homemade one.

- Oh, if you only knew what a talent he is! Since childhood, when everyone was swimming in the river, he spent all day long in his father's workshop.

He has a natural talent as a mechanic. By the sound of a running unit, he can determine its condition, the slightest malfunction.

- Soon the same guys gathered around him like him. Building is a great hobby!

At great speed, one of the carts swept past us for the second circle, then another.

- Oh, what speed! exclaimed the fox in admiration.

The inhabitants all around rejoiced, clapped their hands, shouted, jumped.

5.2

Dead end.

Trying to overpower the crowd, the fox cub shouted -

- And you know, in fact, this is nonsense and not speed !!

- Like this ?! Lulu and I exclaimed, much faster, - not a single wheel can stand it!

- Wizards from a distant kingdom have discovered the maximum speed !

- The speed of light !

- As much as .... 300,000 km per second !!

- Can you imagine a wagon flying at such a speed??

- I'm having a hard time! - shouted the little fox with a glint in the gases and admiration.

To be honest, Lulu and I also had a hard time imagining such an enchanting picture.

Our cart flying in space, with such great speed, past the porthole of some other alien cart.

Yeah, we thought .... There is something to think about.

The numbers themselves seemed fantastic. But is it a lot, 300,000 km per second?

For us, of course, an unattainable figure. And for our Galaxy, the Universe??

Then I began to remember, what is the size of only the visible part of our Universe, which is observed with the help of  magic tubes by modern Alchemists and Wizards from all kingdoms.

According to their calculations, it turns out, that it is approximately 45 billion light years in radius and 90 billion years in diameter.

That is, only through the visible body of the Universe, light moves 90 billion light years in one direction and the same number in the other.

The same wizards even called the age of the visible universe about 14 billion years.

In comparison, it is as if the signal from Lulu's left leg traveled to her brain for several lifetimes.

For some time, trying to comprehend these figures, some kind of contradiction grew inside.

I knew exactly the reason that something did not converge here.

This means  the speed of light is not the speed, with which the processes in the Universe proceed.

My head started to clear up a bit.

Indeed, if we compress the Universe to the size of our body.

And Universe, having decided to relax a little, will drink a glass of wine, how long should it wait for the effect, until the alcohol disperses at the speed of light ??

Multiple lives??

- What are the speeds of the processes in the Universe, in our material system, what is the limit??? I involuntarily exclaimed.

The fox froze, staring at me intently. He clearly liked the example of the glass of wine.

- You're right, he said, various processes in the Universe, as a single organism, can proceed at different speeds, but they proceed almost Instantaneously.

- In the Universe there is no speed limit as a mathematical unit. It depends on the tasks at hand.

- There are tasks that require almost instantaneous movement from one border of the System to the opposite. And they are all fulfilled.

Not expecting to meet such a competent interlocutor here, I honestly was confused.

- With the speed of light, and with us, there is one problem ... said the little fox

- Problem? we got interested.

- And what is it?

The fox cub hesitated

- You see, he began from afar, this problem is so terrible, that I will be tormented by remorse for a long time if I tell you about it.

- I would like to note an extremely important point in advance, the fox continued.

- This problem concerns only that part of our life to which we are accustomed, which we know. It does not concern the part of us about which they know nothing.

- It's not about mysticism, not about the non-material, spiritual or metaphysical.

- Really everything. We just do not know the laws, by which our second reality exists.

- If we knew at least 1 percent about ourselves, it would be a miracle! said the fox in despair.

- Previously, in very ancient times, the inhabitants, being afraid of thunder, attributed everything to higher metaphysical forces. Nothing has changed these days... except for one thing.

- There are more and more mysteries, they grow like a snowball. Wizards have no answer. The inhabitants begin to panic, looking for a saving straw in the super natural, intangible, further aggravating the situation, plunging more and more into the abyss of chaos..

Lulu and I stood there, completely discouraged. Completely forgetting about the race, and generally why we are here.

“Speak,” Lulu and I said decisively in one voice ... there was nowhere to retreat.

“As you know, even among insane Wizards there are exceptions.

- There is a very narrow circle, among which this problem has eclipsed all existing ones. They have been scaring with all their horror for many years, and they see no way out.

- So, now it's evening, and I can show you something visually, in reality.

- Look around carefully .. What do you see suspicious?

- Suspicious? frightened, we were amazed.

- We answered nothing .. Everything is as always.

The fox quietly repeated

- Well, I will ask the question more correctly.

- Look around carefully .... what you see around you - is ... Not Real ??

Then the sweat broke out on my forehead from excitement, and Lulu somehow immediately drooped.

- The problem is, that a good half of the beautiful picture you see is not real.

I wanted to laugh it off and send the fox to hell, but there was something in his face that cut in my chest.

- What ... I croaked ..

- Everything, that you see beyond 300,000 kilometers is all fake, an illusion, a beautiful picture, nothing more.

I stood silent for a long time. Thoughts began to treacherously rush about. I could not concentrate, my chest was squeezed by some kind of load, as if in a vise.

- Yes, the Fox continued. The size of our universe with a radius of only ..300,000 kilometers.

"You must tell me why," I demanded sternly.

- Well, the fox answered heavily.

- You probably like to watch movies.

- When you look at a light source, a projector lamp located 300,000 kilometers away - about 1 light second, your eye sees the real picture on the screen.

- 1 second is a critical time for our eye.

- If the image goes longer, with our eyes, our perception, you can do anything like with blind kittens.

- For you, the Universe ends where your Perception ends, limited by your capabilities.

- When, for example, a light source like our star, or rather, I don’t know what it is, is located 1,500,000 kilometers away, the light, the picture goes to you for 8 minutes.

- During these 8 minutes, I can put on any erotic film for you, but not the one that is shown by the source.

- Are you saying that no one knows what happens in those 8 minutes???

- No, nobody knows. We never!! Didn't see our own Star...!! Never !!!

We have never seen the stars!

- What's the joke? I cried out in disbelief.

- What about the photographs taken by our satellites from neighboring planets and sent to us?

- But what about space, all these beautiful pictures of quasars, universes, nebulae, black holes, finally ?!? I screamed.

- Beautiful pictures and no more, which every day draw rabbits in kindergarten.

- We always see everything in the record.

- Well, no, you won’t convince me, I resisted with all my might - they have super modern glass pipes and all sorts of other things.

- Everything is the same - all super-powerful glass tubes, like the eyes, see information falling on its signal-recording part, which also moves no faster than the speed of light.

- Well, I cried, but even with time, even after 8 minutes, but the light from our star still comes!

- 8 minutes!!! shouted, unable to stand the fox cub with shining eyes ... 8 minutes !!!

- Do you think that the Universe is playing jokes with you here???

- You wait here until you reach, what is in 8 minutes of flight ?!?

- Nothing in the Universe is accidental !!!

- Not a single atom appeared and disappeared here by accident, just like that, for the sake of a joke !!

“We are not allowed to stick our nose out and see what happens beyond 300,000 kilometers…!!

- This monstrous problem has come to a standstill.

- Magicians do their best not to mention it, because everything they do, ceases to make sense, a lot of money goes nowhere. They are no longer needed, and they are afraid of losing their jobs.

- By the way, our beautiful  Moon, the last real object that we see, is located not by chance within 1 light second, showing the border of our world.

-  Our beautiful Moon is like buoys on the sea for swimmers, beyond which they are forbidden to swim.

- Further path is closed to us.
