How to Save on a Beach Wedding Reception

Beach weddings are quite popular with couples who are going the modern route to get married. You can have a beach wedding ceremony and an indoor reception or you can have the entire event on the beach. There is no doubt that you will really make a saving if you choose to marry on the beach. You can use the money saved for your new home or even for an unforgettable honeymoon. Saving money is not being miserly rather it is being sensible in a time of economic down swing.

You may find the following savings suggestions useful when planning a beach wedding:

You can choose to have your reception poolside if the crowd is not too big. This will help you have an intimate yet informal wedding party. The idea of a wedding reception is for the guests to enjoy themselves and for the couple to have a blast!

If you are keen on a church wedding you are sure to find churches that are located barely a stone’s throw from the beach. Some churches are actually located on the beach itself.

Since you cannot put up decorations you are saving money on flowers and other decoration items. As there is no real aisle to walk down you can make arrangements for along strip of carpet and a sort of arch that can be minimally decorated, to be set up for the wedding.

Food can be tricky because of the lack of refrigeration. A beach barbecue is ideal and you can plan on having the food transported in coolers. Just don't choose to serve mayonnaise potato salad. Pig roast, clam bake, meats and vegetables on skewers, cold roasted chicken are all good ideas for a beach wedding reception. Get creative and do plenty of research; you will find plenty of good ideas based on peoples real life experiences that you can borrow from. This type of food will save you a lot of money when compared to a catered sit down meal or a buffet.

You could rent a portable floor for the tables and chairs for your guests and make use of carpet runners placed over the sand to make it easier for people to walk over to the wedding site. With a portable floor you can also have dancing.

Getting married in the morning means you will not need to bother with lighting and that's an additional saving.

If you have friends who are good with music get them to help you out – you will not need to hire a band or DJ, yet another saving. So long as you have someone knowledgeable in charge of keeping the tempo going, things will be fine.

Its your day so get as creative as possible and remember the sky's the limit for planning your beach wedding.
