This book is dedicated to you young people who have been bull-ied and have felt trapped between your desire for revenge and your desire to work things out peacefully. This book is also dedicated to you parents, teachers and counselors who want to help young people understand their vioknt feelings and cope with them in healthy, humane ways.
To the Reader:
I've written Facing the Double-Edged Sword to explore ideas, feelings, and aspects of training which are common to all Martial Atrs styles. My background is mainly in Japanese Karate, and I have used certain Japanese worlds such as kiai, hara, hakama, andgi-certainly not out of disrespect for other styles, but simply because they are the terms I am used to. You will see that this book has universal significance and is meaningful to all Martial Artists, whatever their style.
