Book Description HTML

The stories here presented are a selection from that brilliant series which shine like a constellation in French literature of the last century, blazoning Mérimée’s name across it. Each one has been tested and judged by successive generations of readers and critics. The authoritative appraisers of literary values, French and English, have been pronouncing upon them from the time of their publication until now, when they are still pronouncing upon them, as upon new productions.

An excellent book to meditate and reflect on between utopia and dystopia, on a future that has already reached us and is overtaking us, judging by the political, economic, media and violent events. Plautus and Hobbes were wrong: man is not wolf to man, because wolves do not mass murder other wolves. Man is the only beast that creates weapons of mass destruction against his own species.

It is good but it is not fantastic, it's a little bit too short...
