About Simon’s Story

It was in the village of Laxmipur that a rich land owner lived. He had already burgeoned a family with his wife. They had three sons and two daughters.

The first two sons passed away earlier in life because they had contracted tuberculosis. The second son had a child daughter. So the father of these children arranged a marriage between the second son‟s wife and the third son.

The third son was seven years younger than the second son‟s wife. He didn‟t consent to the marriage but had to marry her without any option in accordance with the father‟s strong will.

For the next 5 years, Simon stayed aloof from his wife. He stayed in friends‟ homes in different villages and passed nights. During the day he would be busy harvesting the lands of his father.

After these 5 years, Simon confronted his wife in the marriage ceremony of a relative. His wife was dressed in a smart navy blue sari with silver glitters. She wore beads of mala and bead earrings matching with the mala.

For a long time Simon examined his wife. And for the first time, he fell in love with her. He approached his wife and started talking with her. They had a long conversation with neither one wanting to lose sight of the other.

When the ceremony was over, Simon accompanied his wife with the

daughter to the village.

Simon and wife had another conversation and he looked and scrutinized his step daughter with kind and gentle eyes.

After the trio got united and had dinner for the night, Simon promised he would come back the next morning. And he did.

Simon now started living in the old village he originally belonged. He was a happier person now and went to harvest his father‟s lands smiling and whistling.

It was not long before a son was born to the family. Simon took good care of both the children and they thrived.

When the older child was an adult, it was time for Simon to bring the daughter to the city, arrange to lodge in a girl‟s hostel and admit her to a private university.

His daughter having settled down in her hostel with books, paper, pens and clothes, Simon returned back to the village to start routine work on his father‟s lands.

Then came the son‟s time. Simon had to get his son admitted to college. After being done with the final round of formalities, Simon returned back to his village.

Simon worked so hard and sincerely on his father‟s land that he was able to earn good money and make money out of money. He was able to

provide expenses for his children in the city.

Finally Simon rented an apartment in the city and brought his wife with luggage to the city. Soon son and daughter could also stay in the rented big enough apartment and it was a happy family reunion in the city after a long time.

Meanwhile, Simon‟s own old father passed away and he inherited the lands, giving portions to his two younger sisters. He sold out his properties back in the village and took the money carefully to the city. He bought a big enough home and his whole family could now stay with more luxury, liberty and space.

Good work, Simon!! You showed everyone what the man of a family should be like. Loyalty and sincerity would always work and bring in more wealth and prosperity. I really congratulate you on your life journeys and wish you successes with much better opportunities and endeavors.
