It was time to go. Alfie’s departure was not as momentous as a year before. The Post-it Notes and the bad memories were not out of sight, but far enough back in his mind so he only looked forward. He had done a fantastic job with Bob and the team, and they had turned the business round, ahead of target. In three months, Bob’s sales were back on track, almost reaching previous levels. Profits were up, not because of increased turnover, but because of increased efficiency and overhead savings. It may not last, they thought, but at least they had momentum.

It seemed Alfie spent his life saying goodbye to the people he loved and was forever trying to catch new dreams. Skytube wasn’t real, but it motivated him, and he carried the concept with him, wherever he went, as a reminder that nothing was impossible.
