Situated about 5 km from Nerja and 1 km from the old municipal district of Maro The Cave of Nerja, which has been declared a Historic-Artistic Monument, is well worth a visit.
Particularly impressive is the 32 m-tall Hall of the Cataclysm. It has been calculated that this space was fashioned by the fall of 1,000 billion dropsof water. Your attention should also be drawn to the Hall of the Phantomsand the Hall of the Waterfall.
The caves are open from 10:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 18:30. In July and August, the evening visiting hours are from 16:00 to 20:00
If you want to visit Alhambra Palace and it’s beautiful gardens, that stand out with their abundant and varied flora and stunning water features, described in a poem as "water that cries", - set aside a whole day. The drive to Granada is 110km…but you don’t want to rush it. You might even want to stay overnight in Granada - the Albaycin, offers narrow shaded streets and is an ideal maze to explore. You can book your guided tour in Alhambra including coach-pick-up from your Granada hotel and an English speaking guide or you can bookyour ticket and go there on your own. (It can be difficult to get tickets in the high-season and they have to be booked in advance.)
