Using Layouts – An Example

1. Prepare the entire Score, including all formatting. Create a named Layout for it (for example “Full Score”).
Make notes of which changes you make that are actually part of the Layout and not the individual Tracks.

2. Close the Score Editor.
3. Open a single Track, for example a woodwind part.

4. If you need, open the Layout Settings, select the “Full Score” Layout and use “Get Form Only” to extract the Layout symbols and the bar line types from the woodwind Track as it appears in the Full Score Layout.

5. Prepare a Layout for the woodwind part.

You might for example move bar lines, add endings, turn on multiple rests, etc.

P Be careful not to change any of the properties of the Track which are not part of the Layout (or you will modify the “Full Score” too!).
6. Name this Layout.
7. If you later change any of the form elements in the Full Score, you can use the Get Form Only to apply these changes to the single Track Layout, too.
