Muting Notes

If you want to display notes without having them played back, you could use the Graphic symbols. An easier way however, might be to insert the notes as usual and then mute them:

1. Select the notes you want to mute.
2. Pull down the Do pop-up menu and select “Mute Selected”.

The notes are muted.

3. To unmute the notes, select them and select “Unmute Selected” on the Do pop-up menu.

Finding Muted notes

There are two ways to distinguish muted notes:

• If the option “Use Colors for Additional Meanings” is activated in the Preferences– Scores–Editor Behaviour dialog, muted notes are displayed in grey.
• If you select the notes, you will notice that they are displayed with a small “frame” instead of the regular inverted note head.

Unmuting all notes

1. Pull down the Edit menu and select “All” from the Select submenu.

All notes are selected.

2. Pull down the Do pop-up menu and select “Unmute Selected”.

All selected notes are unmuted.

• If you want to unmute all notes after a certain position, you could instead hold down [Shift] and double click on the first note after that position. All following notes would be selected, and you could use the “Unmute Selected” command without affecting any notes before that position.
