Chapter 8:

How to Read Playing Cards As Tarot Cards

Synopsis

Reading Tarot cards may seem complicated to some people who have no ideas about them. However, these cards are like playing cards without any illustration and description about the picture. There is no specific deck of Tarot cards based from the statements of other Tarot card readers. In fact, you can make your own if you want.

If you like to pursue a career as a psychic yet you don’t have any materials in your hands, there is no need to worry because you can now use playing cards as your deck of Tarot cards.

For those who still don’t have any ideas about Tarot cards or forgot what it’s all about, Tarot cards are composed of four suits and they are wands, cups, pentacles, and swords. Since you will use playing cards, it is simple to use them as a substitute of spades, hearts, clubs, and diamonds.

Using Playing Cards as Tarot Cards

There are various tips you may consider when using playing cards. These tips may include the following:

  1. Select which playing card suit is a good alternative for Tarot card suit. Don’t worry about the cards you have chosen as long as you feel comfortable with them. Then, they will make sense and won’t let you face any difficulties. When choosing cards, always keep symbols that may substitute the Tarot cards. Also, don’t forget about the suits’ colors.
  2. Determine your own numbering system. The typical Tarot cards ace is the number one through ten. They also have 4 court cards including page, queen, knight, and king. Once you started playing, consider ace and 3 court cards such as jack, king, and queen. You should also decide which cards won’t be included while you are playing them. If you like to improvise, you may use extra cards to complete the set of cards.
  3. Select whether you will include Major Arcana cards or not. Tarot cards are composed of a total of 22 Major Arcana cards which are numbered from 0 to 21. Playing cards don’t have cards like this. If you use playing cards, a majority of people will choose to leave major out completely. If you like, you may add cards from another deck of playing cards for you to complete the Tarot cards that you will use later. However, once you have considered them, you have to be careful when differentiating the Minor Arcana cards. If you don’t want to be confused, you may use the cards’ colors as your basis.
  4. Once you have chosen the cards needed to complete the Tarot cards, shuffle them and spread them like the way you play with the Tarot cards. If you have followed the same routine, you will feel more comfortable with the playing cards.

It is okay to use playing cards as your Tarot cards. However, if you are going to pursue your career as a psychic, you need to purchase or look for the right deck of Tarot cards. This can help you develop your skills and might improve your abilities.
