Chapter Fourteen

Annie has been dead for twenty-five years now, and the town still talks about her. There is a statue of a snow angel which stands in the town center. Tom still lives in town, and yes, he does have a daughter he and his wife have named Annie. His parents are the doting grandparents to a little girl who closely resembles the aunt she never knew right down to the mass of golden curls around her head!

Annie’s angel still watches them. She keeps an eye on Annie’s family and the town. It had been whispered, rumored, and then positively shouted along heaven’s streets that some humans were trainable! Annie’s angel refused any credit and mostly ignored all the publicity about Annie’s town. If you happened to catch her when she didn’t know you were watching though, you would see that she positively glowed whenever she thought of Annie’s family or that town. She is also the guardian angel for “little Annie,” Tom’s daughter, and she has assured Annie that “little Annie” has a long, happy life ahead of her.

Annie watches, too. She hasn’t missed any important or dull event in her family’s lives since that fateful day. She cherishes them, and they know it. Annie waits patiently for the time when they all will be together. She doesn’t want to rush anything. She’s enjoying the show!

The townspeople have never forgotten about Annie or her family, and it should be noted that all new people who move into town are told the story of Annie and her angel. One little angel had made all the difference in their lives. One little girl had taught a town not to be afraid, and her family had showed them the way.
