So many people were involved, and it didn’t take very long to put the festival together.
Everybody in the village seemed to have some reason to celebrate.
The school was built; the Princess received a new name; and, Lane soon found himself on familiar ground.
He stood on the deck of the Princess, as she headed out to sea.
Over the years, he visited Spain. They made it back to Tunisia, but Benny was no longer alive.
Nearly every island between Cuba and Bermuda received a visit from the Princess and her crew.
Sometimes, it was for gold and trading, but more times than that Lane and his men would rescue those enslaved. They brought these people home.
Home wasn’t always the same place, but often they would come back to Palacio.
Another funny thing occurred.
The town of Palacio grew. A war ensued, a conflict that didn’t take the life of anyone from Lane’s family.
Lane never married, but he stayed true to the Lord and the job the Lord had given him.
He reached the age of 125 years and saw Texas become a state in December of 1845.
ZIBA had married one of the local girls, in fact the very same woman he had met on week two in Palacio.
Lane saw ZIBA’s grandchildren graduate from the very school his namesake built in their first year.
It’s hard to say whatever happened to Tiger. He got lost along the way, when the Princess visited St. George of Bermuda.
Lane thought about Tiger often and believed that, given everything else that happened in their lives, that the Lord had called Tiger to do some other mission. It was that simple, and Tiger wouldn’t have said no to such a calling.
