Have you ever noticed that us cats don’t get excited at all if offered a piece of cake, or some pie, a bit of chocolate candy, or other things like that? In fact, we give it a quick look-over and smell-over and stare at you with questioning eyes, asking you non-verbally why in the world you would want to share something like that with us. Hey, when there’s milk available in that refrigerator box and cut-up fish in those little, round cans hiding behind one of those small doors in the kitchen room, you could offer us that instead.
We do appreciate your well-intentioned generosity, but consider lowering down some cat-type edibles when you’re in the sharing mood, would you please?
You see, the former do’s and don’ts of sharing have to do with the buds. The taste buds, that is. We’ve got these special chemo-sensors that are like a highly developed warning system. They do a quick analysis of the favorable or unfavorable chemical content of the food, and thus, the desirability of what we should allow to enter into our mouths. As it turns out, these chemo-sensors wisely prevent us from eating sweets or sugary foods in general.
It’s really a simple matter to understand. Please go on eating all the deserts you yourselves want, but there’s no reason to include us kitties in those sweet feasts, okay?
