Chapter 9

Prevention Is the Best Way to Treat Acne

There are many drugs on the market that can help treat acne.

Some of them are effective for those with acne, some are not for you.

The best way to avoid acne is to try to prevent it from happening instead of waiting for it to happen and then treating it.

This is the best method when you want to keep your face free of acne or only a few acne infections.

Tips:

  • Use a good-quality facial cleanser. These are available without a prescription. If you know you may have acne, use a treatment program designed specifically for acne. You will find many, but please choose the one that best suits your specific needs. Use it twice a day, morning and evening.
  • Exfoliating. You can also use exfoliating products. You should use them as directed to help you remove dead skin cells from your face and remove bacteria from your skin. If your skin becomes too dry with these products, buy and use a non-greasy moisturizer to help.
  • A balanced diet, rich in nutrients the body needs. This will include many fruits and vegetables. Although this will not help you get rid of acne, it will help your body have a chance to fight the infection.
  • Use multivitamins. If you are prone to acne, you may want to consider a regimen specifically designed for the acne itself. These are ideal because they can provide you with a variety of nutrients that most people cannot get.

Keep it Cool

As we said before, stress is the main aggravating factor of acne.

Try not to be too nervous (we know, easier said than done), and make sure you have time to relax every day.

Ensure adequate sleep and make sure you eat well. Taking a multivitamin every day is also harmless.

Most people lack one vitamin or the other, and multivitamins can make up for any deficiency in daily vitamin intake.

Remember, vitamins are supplements, not substitutes for regular meals. It's a good idea to stay away from stressful situations, but let's face it, most stressful situations are unavoidable.

Try to avoid those you can.

 Don’t Wear Tight Clothing

If you have acne on your body parts such as your chest or back, it is best to temporarily wear loose clothing.

Tight clothing will wear out the delicate healing skin of acne and can further spread acne-causing bacteria around the affected area.

Loose clothes are doubled for physically active activities, such as exercise or sports.

Sweat will increase the irritation of tight clothing, and if you do not currently have acne, it will increase your chances of getting acne.

Don't pop that Acne.

Unfortunately, there is no 100% safe way to prevent or treat acne. Sometimes despite your best efforts, you still get terrible pimples.

Take care of it as much as you can, don't blow it up! You will be tempted, and logically, it only seems to be helpful. But popping acne can cause more damage to the skin and force bacteria into the newly created damage, further spreading acne. Popping pimple also greatly increases the chance of scarring.

Preventing acne means being proactive. If you want to get the best results for your skin, you must make every effort to ensure it through prevention.
