The annual Rose Parade was one of the most anticipated events in this country. The honor went to Joan Elizabeth Culver in December 1955 to reign as its queen. She was an honors student at Pasadena City College when given the title. She was 18 years old, 5'4", and 112lbs. Although a contract with Columbia Pictures was discussed, nothing materialized. She married John Carl Warren in 1957, whom she met in college.
