Frances Geno King (1922-2016) of Paducah, Kentucky was crowned Strawberry Queen of 1939. Although it seems like an odd title, it was an annual pageant to promote the Paducah Strawberry Festival. Other titles included Best All- Around Girl and Queen of the Berries. She was gorgeous and intelligent, having graduated as Valedictorian of Heath High School that same year. After the pageants ended, she enrolled in Paducah College where she was a part of Alpha Beta Sorority. She married Robert Dodson, and they had three children (Robert, Joel, and Angelina) together. Frances enjoyed dancing, traveling, and quilting. She died in Chula Vista, California.
