Honey King

Ella Mae "Honey" Carehnke (1920-1973) was a model who got into the business later in life. Born in Gainesville, Florida to William and Addie Carehnke, she left for Hollywood - and divorced her husband Joseph Leon King- after finishing high school. After working at Western Union for a few years, she was discovered by a prominent designer known as Irene to signed her to her agency. Since she began modeling in her 30's, she often lied about her age by giving birth dates of 1922 and 1924.

After appearing in the January 1952 issue of MaCall's, Howard Hughes casted her in Son of Sinbad (1955). Although a brief romance with the wealthy Hyatt Von Dehn garnered a lot of publicity, she remained unmarried until her death.
