Maxine Ruth Reeves began modeling on Queen for a Day in the 1940's. She became the "head model" partway through the series, where she mentored newcomers and took part in some of the business-related decisions of the series. Maxine Reeves (currently known as Maxine Reeves-Fitzpatrick) is retired in Palm Desert, California. near her two children She is 97 years old, but is active, alert, and healthy. Her recent projects include a documentary of Queen for a Day and a possible reboot of the series.
When asked about the appeal of Queen for a Day, Maxine said
"In those days, people didn't have nice things and poverty was a lot more prevalent in this country. It was looked at as an opportunity for struggling women to have nice things and be happy."
