Book Description

What a long strange trip it’s been, coming of age in the Sixties—a decade defined by scandal, assassination, and riot. Rejecting a government that we once thought wouldn’t lie to us. Running from the draft, living outside the law, seeking comfort in the music, the soundtrack of the times. Stints working at the Fillmore East in New York and the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin bolstered the feeling it was all worthwhile. Believing that no government could stop us. Until it seems it could, ultimately, as the political world descended into madness.“We do not take a trip. A trip takes us.”—John Steinbeck

    The story of Stella
    29 Nov 2021
Thank you Stella for sharing your experience, you have an easy to read writing style which took me straight into your world. It was very interesting to see the consequences of isolation measures of this pandemic through the eyes of a tween. I hope your sense for justice - as you described the George Floyd affair I was pleasantly touched by you pointing out that the cause is the problem, not the riots - I hope it will motivate you to find out more about injustice and other causes of human (and animal) suffering. You may find it a good way to handle your own suffering, which is - let's be honest - a typical self centered tween suffering. Please don't take this bad. I suppose by now your world has expanded and that you're learning many interesting things. I'm looking forward to your next book Stella ! It's important to share intergenerational experiences, after all, YOU are the future.

Stella, I am an 80+ grandma & I learned from you. When I taught school I loved 4th grade best of all so I can understand your sense of loss completely. You possess an amazing sense of self from this pandemic and have great writing skill. I see great things ahead for you and was pleased to get to know you through your writing. My best to your nurturing family too.

    The Story of Stella

This book was interesting. I got the view point of somebody else and what it would be like for someone else if the covid-19 affected them. I didn't relate to the feelings of Stella because the Covid-19 has not affected me at since I totally do not mind staying at home 24/7. So, it was interesting to see someone else's viewpoint and feelings. I am glad the character saw all she went through as a growth. :D
