Part XIII

Part XIII

On the day of the verdict, at Kilimani Law Court,

The court room was filled to the brim,

Friends, colleagues, patients he had helped,

Were all there,

They were all condemning John,

For his careless driving,

What was he thinking by over speeding?

How could he take away such a brilliant young mind?

He must face justice!

Some were wreathing with anger,

Like when pharisees appeared before Pilate,

To crucify Jesus on the cross,

Everyone was waiting for John’s crucifixion,

Some even desired to stone him to death.

Only his mother was on his side,

She sat on the front corner of the court room,

She just looked at the swam of people,

Waiting for his sons end,

She couldn’t say a word,

What could she say anyway?

His only son was now facing,

Murder charges,

The son he had struggled so much to raise,

When her husband died thirty years ago,

Life was terrific and terrible for her,

Being a widow at such a young age,

Was a taboo in her community,

Some believed she was a witch,

They isolated her,

She couldn’t stand the suffering any more,

She had to go back to her parents.

Now another tragedy had hit her again,

The only person who had treated her with love and care,

Was to be taken away forever from her,

And she could do nothing to save him,

It hurt her more than a real wound,

She couldn’t cry,

What would tears do?

It was over for her.
