THE GOLDEN ONE

I touched the face of love
But could not embrace it.
Those who are meant for each other

Can rarely find each other,
Tossed like ships in a storm
We live our lives in a futile quest,

While the gods laugh at their
Jest upon us.
Imprisoned in a loveless lie
The lonely heart rages in vain
Over the cruel gift that fate bestowed,

To dream the dream of love
But never this dream to be known.
