DARK ANIMA

Dark hunger of a dark heart
Claims my seed as its own.
You had no heart to give,
Still I loved you.
To you I was a nothing and a no one,

Still I loved you.
But love and the dream could not

Conquer the cold within,
Only a man with money your love

Could ever hope to win.
Now entangled in this dream
Turned to thorns,
The cruel specter of your selfish love

Returns to claw at my heart.
I do not know why I loved you,

For you could love only yourself.
