BLACK MAN
I saw you
A fair man in an unjust world,
A true man living among liars and thieves.
I knew you.
You were a good man and suffered
Much for your sincerity.
You were the best and you were black
And always it was not that you were best,
Only that you were black.
There will be a different world.
A world of honorable men.
A world where your children
Will walk as lovers,
Hand in hand with mine.
The sun has dried the lake
And now the rain waits in the distance.
