FOR MY GRANDMOTHER
I never loved you enough, grandma,
You who always gave to me your love,
Your kindness, your understanding,
A dollar for a movie on Saturday.
When I was lost your compassion
Was my light,
When I was troubled, your kind hand
Soothed my course,
When I had no one, I always had you.
In the peace of the Lord’s favor you lived
And in His Peace you are now enshrined.
May you look down upon I who
Loved you and understand.
I never gave enough, grandma,
To you who always gave so much to me.
I love you, grandma,
Please accept my tears.
They are all I have left to give.
