THE STAR

The Dweller between the Waters

Aquarius

“Hope”

DESCRIPTION AND SYMBOLISM

The Star Goddess stands before us naked, symbolizing the pristine and primal purity of her nature. She is the Mother of All and there is no pretense in her. In her hands she holds two pitchers, out of which pour the psychic Aquarian waters – three streams that flow into the pool upon which her foot rests and five streams becoming rivulets upon the earth. A large golden star dominates the sky around which seven smaller white stars seem to hover about. Little blossoms adorn the landscape and a small bird perches upon a tree to her rear. In the Star lies an important step on the path of spiritual evolution. The slavery of material bondage has been recognized in “The Devil”, and  the gift of  awakening  bestowed in “The Tower” so in “The Star” we learn to develop meditative awareness that will unveil the inner dimension of consciousness - how to drink of the primal water of life and how this Spirit Essence manifests itself in our lives as individuals and in Nature itself. Central to “The Star” is the image of a naked woman holding two vases from which flow separate streams, one of which returns to the pool which is its source, and the other spreading itself out into five rivulets upon the earth.  This   comely   woman   represents   the   Sacred   Feminine. She is the High Priestess, The Empress, The Women of Strength and Justice, and the Dancer in the World card. She is the Queen of the Stars - the Holy Feminine. The waters of life flow freely from her vases enriching both the physical and spiritual realms as the cosmic sources of spiritual light shine down upon her from the heavens. The Star Goddess is hope – the hope of moving from the darkness of ignorance to the inner light of faith and grace. The Star invokes an atmosphere of mediation through which is experienced the inner light of compassionate divine grace which brings the faith and hope necessary to confront and transcend our difficulties.

ASTROLOGICAL ASSOCIATION

The water bearer, Aquarius, conveys the astrological meaning of this card for the waters that flow from the jugs are none other than the very waters of life and consciousness itself born out of and ever renewed by the Star Goddess. From her the waters of our life flow and nourish our self consciousness. Through her inspiration we discover the inner faith and wisdom that allows us to revere the universe and trust in its eternal laws as well as the hope that when we return to the Divine Source we will be renewed and rejuvenated when we experience the radiance of its infinite creative love.

When Appearing Reversed in a Reading

Pessimism, doubt, stubbornness and mental rigidity have overtaken you. You are suffering a loss of faith and exhibit an unwillingness to accept or adapt to change. Your rigidity of mind, lack of trust and self-deceptive mentality could lead to such devastating failures that your hopes will be crushed and you may never dare to dream again. Think positive. Positive thoughts produce positive results.

THE TREE OF LIFE

“The Path of the Natural Intelligence”

The incarnating Spirit Individuality makes its way down the Tree of Life and enters onto the next to last path on its journey from the Divine Source. Here it attains the completion and perfection necessary to live in Nature as it stands before the door of entry into the material plane of being.
