How to manage project  changes

There are 4 actions you have to do to manage / control / minimize project  changes:-

1- Get the whole team involved: let everybody in the team know

what you are going to deliver exactly by sharing SOW (Statement  of work), schedule, Requirements Specifications even the  acceptance criteria. Having this knowledge sharing will help them  to identify changes or find brilliant solution for requested changes  by spending less effort.

2- Defend Scope: train you people to defend the scope and never  give the client any promises until they come back to you to discuss  it in details and find other solutions without changing the scope  and if no other solution then go for the change.

3- Enforce CR (Change Request) Process: make sure that every  change will go through CR process to evaluate the impact (use  relevant team member for that) and approve it then go for  Implementation.

4- Don’t do the work until getting the permission: do not ever give  informal approvals or take handshaking permission and do the  work based on it, because if things went wrong and who approved  it informally took his word back they will never get you paid for  the work you have done.
