MERCHANDISER
OVERVIEW
Merchandisers are 3rd party vendors hired by merchandising companies to perform varies retail tasks. Assignments can range from on-going part -time assignments, short term projects, route work, week end only projects or temporary special projects. Some assignments can also include you working on a team and/or traveling to other cities.
Merchandisers most often work in major retail outlets such as, Walmart, Kroger, Dollar General, Home Depot, etc.

Merchandisers enjoy the benefit of working flexible hours. The way the work is assigned varies from company to company. Some companies use self-scheduling software, which gives you the ability to choose the assignments you want to complete. Other companies assign work by territory. Some assignments may require you to do the work on certain days but for the most part you can visit your assigned stores the days and times that work best for you.
HOW MUCH YOU CAN EXPECT TO EARN
Merchandising companies hire both independent contractors and W-2 employees. The amount you can expect to earn depends on your employment status. Independent contractors are paid per task. Fees can range from $10.00 - $25.00 per task. The pay for W-2 employees can range from $8.50 - $15.00 per hour. Companies that hire merchandisers as W-2 employees, generally pay for gas mileage, training and have some sort of bonus program. Part-time merchandisers that work for one company, earn on average between $500 and $1,200 a month. You can expect to earn more if you work as an independent contractor and/or work part time employee for more than one
