Krazy Kall-Ins

At most of the places I supervised, I would take call-ins directly.  People had quite a number ridiculous excuses why they did not come to work.

One woman had to donate bone marrow.  One had to stay home because her babysitter shot herself.  (Doesn't say much for her kids.)  More than once  someone had to stay home because their dog had puppies.  (I admit I'm just ignorant about raising dogs, but really?)  Any time anyone had kinfolk admitted to the hospital, whether the person was their aunt or whoever, they would need to miss work.  Then there was this one about afterbirth, which I suppressed from my memory.

When I was a worker, I blew off work once to watch Monday Night Football.  I did not lie.  I told personnel it was for personal reasons.  They asked what the personal reason was.  I told them it was personal.  But I did not enjoy it and I never did it again.

I had to be very sick to call in.  One time I was so sick I was ready to pass out as  I stood by the phone at home.  The guards were goofing around not answering the phone.  It took me over an hour to get them to answer.  I was furious with them.  They when they did, I was ten minutes late calling in and would be subject to discipline. I told the guard that he better write down that I called on time or I would bring him into the matter.
