Betrayal

One of my workers got into trouble for absenteeism.  It went to the level of termination of employment.  During his time with the Company he desperately wanted raises, which I felt were justified, so I tried to get them for him.  I was able to get some improvement for him.

For some reason, during his exit interview, he decided to make me look as bad as possible.  He said that I was knowingly allowing rat dung to be put on the product and he came up with a whole shopping list of complaints he had about me.  He had a number of other out and out lies on the list, and I did not understand why he did it.

Then he came back one day and asked if I would give him a good reference for another job.  I asked him about what happened with his exit interview and he withdrew his reference request.

So many times I have been lied about by others for their own benefit.  When I started in supervision, I considered myself to be a people person.  Eventually I came to the point where I no longer wanted to be a supervisor.  I did not want to deal with anyone's problems other than my own.
