You now have a book stored in a Brain in reusable parts, but now we must move forward to create a unique text out of these parts. There is some original writing to do and there is a task of pulling all these seemingly disparate texts into a unified whole.
Here you now need to seriously begin considering the actual users of the potential eTexts that can be developed out of this database of information you have now amassed. Here are some of the matters you need to consider as you work through this chapter:
• Are the potential readers sophisticated readers, or do they need lots of direction as to how the text needs to be used?
• Does each reader need some general pointers as to how to use the information from each chapter?
• What read tools are required for this text: index, glossary, table of contents, references, library references?
This chapter is about making educated guesses as to what is going to be the minimum requirement for your text to be considered by your market as a valuable tool. Whether you are going to sell your text or give it away free, you want people to use the text you are writing –this is about thinking as though you are a reader and putting in place what you think your reader’s will want to help them use your text product.
