Affiliate marketing means selling other people products earning commissions for doing so. This is the most popular way to earn money online working from home. In this case you don’t need your own product.
Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest way to earn commissions and most popular. In this case you don’t need to be worry about technical or any other support for your customers. All the tech stuff is being look after by the creator of the product.
Promoting other people product is very low cost or no cost at all. There are plenty of free online tools to help you with that. Yet I recommend paid services, you want to look professional. I understand that based on your financial situation you might temporary resort to free services.
All you need is;
There are two types of products; digital and physical (there are also services but that is subject for a different book). Most common sold products are digital. There is no need for keeping inventory.
So let’s start. Popular place where you can find thousands of digital products is Clickbank. Open an account with them, it’s free. Please read their “terms and conditions” to be aware what’s legal what’s not before you run into troubles. Their rules are not complicated.

Once you register an account log in, and look for tab “marketplace”. New window will open.
As you can see on your left hand site there is a list of categories. While you click on some of the categories more subcategories might open.
At this point you need to decide what categories are the most comfortable to promote for you. If not sure browse all categories until you make up your mind.
To pick up a product I suggest look for product that are popular. It means there is need for that information about them, and it’s easier when you are a beginner. This increases your chance to attract potential customers.
For my example I’ve picked a product in “green products”. I chose to display my search in descending order, from most popular to least popular it’s the top performing in this category. They are also listed in order of “gravity” (Clickbank rating).
That info about the product is showing how popular it is, how much commission you might earn. To promote hit “promote”. Most products have support materials for promoting (banners, giveaways, etc.).
Your main goal is to connect customers with the product or its benefits they are searching for, and if they buy through your link, you get pay. Simple. To help you find out what keywords or phrases they type into Google search looking for particular product, you need to use Google Keyword Planner.
There are many programs that are used for keyword searches but at the beginning Google Tool is good enough. If you are from UK, Canada or Australia you need to change the search options to US inside your search. Google automatically sets searches for country where you are.
To build a blog use Wordpress at your domain. There is program call Softaculus in your hosting account (cpanel) that will help you with that.
While deciding on keyword terms or phrases don’t aim at the most searched, rather at monthly volume searches of 5000 to 1000 or even lower. At the beginning you have zero chance to be on first page of Google.
Lower monthly search volume indicates less competition, and rather more permanent position on first page of Google for that phrase. To be on first page for high volume monthly searches is costly, and not for someone new to online marketing.
To be successful in promoting include in your post, list of benefits that others might have missed. Spend some time on Google to see who is first on page for that keyword or phrase and see their blog to have an idea for your post. DO NOT COPY THEIR WORK ONLY THE IDEA!

Second category in affiliate marketing or choice, are physical product. There are many companies selling physical products with affiliate programs. The biggest and most known is Amazon. To start with Amazon, check first if in your area that is possible.
There are some States and countries that Amazon do not allow affiliate programs. In that case you may consider other companies like; Dell, Best Buy or many others. To find more affiliate programs with physical products type into Google search “(physical product of your choice) affiliate program”.
To connect customers with what you want to promote create blog with useful information about that product. And of course do your homework if it comes to phrases or keywords they use to search for that product.
Provide as much useful information in your post as you can without hype. Check other posts available online and see what more you may include in. Perhaps there is video in You Tube with helpful tips, so include link to that video.
In writing blog posts about product of your choice include keywords and phrases in natural way. Make that article look like is not stuffed with repeating words and phrases. Google search engine is sensitive about that; you might be even penalized for that.
