Careful observations of the tire marks left at the accident scene indicate that the vehicle didn’t sway, so it wasn’t a mechanical failure.

 

He passes the phone to her, stretching his hand completely, but she doesn’t receive it. Her eyelids are swollen, cheeks puffy and eyes filled with tears.

 

Close on the phone’s screen, which displays a photograph of tire markings going straight, off the surface of a neatly tarred road.

 

FEMI (O.S.) (CONT’D) It seems like Mister Uche deliberately stirred his vehicle off the road and into the wall. Is this true?

 

Chioma is lost in whirlwinds of thoughts.

 

DISSOLVE TO:

 

 

EXT. LEKKI-EPE EXPRESSWAY - NIGHT - FLASHBACK

 

Focused on the cozy interior of a vehicle. Uche, mid 30s, good-looking, chuckles under his breath. His eyes are GREENED with jealousy and rage. His face changes SMOOTHLY into something subtle and MALICIOUS. Tears quickly roll down both cheeks. He locks the car doors and disables the passengers’ control. He pushes his right feet against the throttle COMPLETELY.

 

Close on the indicator of the speedometer as it swings right and quickly, from 40 kmph.

 

END OF FLASHBACK SEQUENCE

 

CUT BACK TO:

 

 

INT. ROOM 7, WING C, ST. NICHOLAS HOSPITAL - CONTINUOUS

 

Femi lowers his phone down, locks it, and pushes it away into his trouser pocket. He pokes Chioma LIGHTLY on the shoulder, interrupting her whirlwinds of thoughts.

 

FEMI

 

Did you hear what I just said?

 

His poke propelled a shiver down her spine, as she jerks back to her senses. She turns her face to him and eyes him in an awfully rude way, but doesn’t speak, and Femi didn’t seem to care.
