CHIOMA (continue sobbing)

Hoping that I will finally fall in love with you. Uche, the truth is that I never loved you from day one. I thought you knew this.

Uche is about to break down into tears.

CHIOMA (CONT’D)

You were so persistent. You even approached my mother. Why would you do that?

Uche doesn’t respond.

CHIOMA (CONT’D) Eventually my mother persuaded me to give you a chance, that I will fall in love with you eventually just as she eventually fell in love with my father. But it never happened for me, Uche. It never happened.

CHIOMA (CONT’D)

How long am I to wait? Right now, I’m only dating you out of convenience, and I hate myself for that because I’m not an opportunist. You need someone better. Someone that will genuinely love you, because honestly, each day, I’m getting bored and tired of everything.

CHIOMA (CONT’D) (smiles)

Tonight, I felt love. I felt what it means to fall in love, and I finally realized what I was missing all along. If you truly love me, you will let me go.

Uche finally breaks his silence:

UCHE (laughs)

And who did you feel the love with? Emeka?

Uche suddenly breaks into IGBO:

UCHE (CONT’D) (fluently)

Gwa m, Chioma. I choro ahapu m. (MORE)
