INT. EXQUISITE RESTAURANT - CONTINUOUS - FLASHBACK

Uche clears his throat a bit, trying to get Chioma to say something. Everyone is waiting in anticipation.

UCHE (worried)

Is anything the problem, my love? You’ve not been yourself tonight. Is tonight bad timing? Or don’t you want to get married to me?

Uche whispers as lightly as possible so that only Chioma hears. He is still on his knee. Chioma finally speaks out.

CHIOMA

(in a soft voice)

Can you give me some time to think about it? Please.

Uche is disappointed. It is evident on his face. Dripping with embarrassment, he slowly gets up, and looks at the crowd of Couples and Waitresses staring at him.

UCHE (shamed)

Everyone, she is just having a bad hair day, that’s all. She’ll of course say yes tomorrow morning when she is feeling much better.

Uche’s eyes are HEAVILY colored in red. Everybody turns away slowly, and in disappointment of course. Uche manages to make it back to his chair, but this time he walked like someone tipsy on cheap alcohol.

Emeka returns to his table without Amara. Emeka and Chioma lock eyes again, this time with a wider smile.

JUMP CUT TO:

INT. ROOM 7, WING C, ST. NICHOLAS HOSPITAL - CONTINUOUS

Femi is still seated on the visitor’s chair, but this time, he’s RELAXED. His right leg is crossed comfortably over his left, with his back FULLY rested on the chair, and his arms wrapped around each other.

CHIOMA

This confirmed my suspicion. Emeka fancied me. Now, of course, flirting with a stranger is of no harm, especially when you know you will never see him again. But fate was playing a game and it was too sweet to be ended.
