Femi smiles.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. EXQUISITE RESTAURANT - CONTINUOUS - FLASHBACK

Amara returns from the ladies’. She doesn’t sit. She grabs her red leather purse on the table.

AMARA

(to Emeka; angrily) I’m going home.

She turns around and proceeds to the exit.

UCHE

(to Chioma; disappointed)

I think we should call it a day. Let’s go home now.

Uche gets up in an HAP-HAZARD manner, and strolls to the exit. Both Chioma and Emeka lag behind their partners with a few steps.

Uche bumps into Amara at the door. When he turns to apologize, his frown crosses smoothly into a SMILE and his face lit like a Christmas tree. Amara and Uche laughs, forgetting the incident, and falling into an embrace.

AMARA

(to Uche; excitedly)

How long has it been? Three years?!

UCHE (laughing)

No, it’s been four years now. So you’re still terrible at keeping dates.

Amara laughs, covering her open mouth while she does. Chioma SHYLY looks up and meets Emeka’s smiling eyes burning the top of her head. Her breath cuts and she coughs.

JUMP CUT TO:

INT. ROOM 7, WING C, ST. NICHOLAS HOSPITAL - CONTINUOUS

Close on Femi’s face as he smiles PROFUSELY like a little boy listening to his favorite bed time story.

CHIOMA (O.S.)

Could life have been any more cruel to me that night? Standing so close to Emeka made me so nervous. It couldn’t breathe.
