Struck lifeless, Chioma stares at Uche. The words ‘I love you’ had instantly turned her into a pillar of salt, that she didn’t even bother about the answer she was looking for, but Emeka gave it to her anyway:

EMEKA (CONT’D)

And I was staring at you like that, for the same reason you are staring at me right now.

Chioma rests on the body of a vehicle behind her. She quickly jumps off as the car alarm goes off. She subsequently falls into Emeka’s arms and their eyes lock again without a word. They’re both breathing heavily as their faces draw close to each other. They are oblivious to their partners standing ahead of them, or maybe they don’t care.

Chioma raises herself up, gently and gradually standing on her toes, in order to meet Emeka’s face. Her heart is racing fast, her face is starting to flush, and her hands are shaking.

Suddenly her purse drops to the ground, but not one of them looks away to the ground. Their eyes are still locked on each other, drawing closer and closer until they can feel their breaths upon each other. Their moment is unfortunately interrupted:

UCHE (calls out)

Hey beautiful, it’s time to go home.

Emeka and Chioma are back to their senses. They frighteningly draw away from each other, but they don’t let go of each other’s eyes. At Uche’s car, the four say their ‘goodbye’s. However there is an unspoken thing between Chioma and Emeka as the pair keeps staring into each other’s eyes, like they’re both wishing for the same thing.

EMEKA (smiles)

My phone, before I forget.

CHIOMA (smiling right back)

That’s true, I have forgotten my phone is with you.

Emeka and Chioma exchange phones in the presence of their partners, and neither Uche nor Amara seem happy about it.
