While Star parked Bill’s scooter, Max went to their room and booted up his main laptop. He wanted to check the £10million was still there. There was no reason why it shouldn’t be, but he wanted to see it for himself. Satisfied, he settled down to split the money into accounts in different countries, a precaution in case it was being tracked and of course, to avoid all the eggs staying in one basket.
He then made a Skype call to D.I. Marsh asking that he start making contact with friends and family again, keeping it low key. The police would be speaking to him soon enough and all he needed to do was present his alibi. Max cautioned him again about keeping the £200,000 in cash, well hidden and not to dip into it for at least 6 months. Marsh thanked Max profusely and wished him luck in his new life.
Max confided to Star. “The final piece of our escape plan is now in place. We just need to stay undercover until mid-November, then we can vanish to some paradise island.”
