Chapter 15

THE SETTLEMENT

0240HRS

BIG BROTHER RUKUS

Kebly kebly kebly hebly sebly keby kooh.

SMALL BROTHER RUKUS

Gooble gooble gooble hoopte gooble gooh.

GIGGLY SISTER RUKUS

Yelelei yelelei yelelei ooooooh

BIG BROTHER RUKUS

Sing my brother. Sing my sister. Sing. Let us call upon our ancestors to

come and witness this great injustice. Men huddled like cattle in a ranch.

Dogs sniffing our arses like escaped convicts. Then they dump us in this

shithole unceremoniously. We are still in that boat. We are still waiting

to reach the promised land. You wait and see, tomorrow they will come

with their prods and prod us away to slaughter.

HOOPTE GOBBLEDYGOOK

SMALL BROTHER RUKUS

I need a smoke.

BIG BROTHER RUKUS

Had I a smoke, I would have given it to you. At least smoking kills you

slowly. At least it has the courtesy of taking away your dignity at the

end. Here we are. Cattle I tell you, cattle. I wish I could hear what they

were saying. I guess they were saying something along the lines that

this was for our own good. Our protection. The heathens. My brother,

my sister. I will sing and raise hell for this one night. I am crying out to

my ancestors.

[slumps on the sprawled matress and shouts]

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
