Chapter 18

On returning home to Grenada Jason consulted one of his associates by the name of Jérome Lefevre. He had hired another architect to run the firm for his own reasons. “You’ll have to hire Hervé Lavalle for this project insisted Jérome. Hervé was a good contractor and builder all in one. And he's the best,” Cheryl exclaimed with a twinkle in her eye. “The absolute best.”

“He's easy on the eyes too,” Marie-Rosalie added. “He is the most up-to-date guy to work on my residence in years.”

“You have to hire him,” Marie-Rosalie was resolute. "You totally have to. I mean how can you leave him out!"

"I promise you, he does a terrific job," Renée added. "And did we mention he's sexy as sin?"

Jason observed them all following the shower of compliments speeding like a tennis ball between his two sisters. They likely would have gone on for hours if he'd let them. Discussing a job to be done and good-looking, available man could carry these friends of his further than just the aperture of credits on a movie night.

Jason decided that it was better to cut them off now rather than later. “Fine! He's hired. May I have his number Cheryl? We need to get down to some important business right away. I have no time to waste on this one and there is very little room for any sort of errors.”

He briefly explained to them what this was all about. It was about his future. He had made plans for a family. He told them all about gorgeous Raquel. About how she proposed to him while on his escapade. Then he explained that they would be married soon and that she had agreed to live in Grenada. Jason also showed them the house he chose. A spacious but deserted townhouse about two buildings away. They all gasped at the details.

First the team from First Electrical would be coming to rewire and retrofit the house for alternative energy purposes. They had promised that two weeks would be enough time. Jason added another two weeks just in case.

Then the team from Easy Energy Savers would come in to install three wind generators and a solar panel bank all capable of generating at least twenty KW’s of electricity. He needed to harness this new technology to the max.

Kool Settings would come in and fit the rooms with air- conditioning units. They would also fit a couple of Portable Evaporative Cooler units.

Gateways would come and install the polished stainless steel electronic garage doors to the two port garage. They would also install electronic roller shades and shutters at each window. Oversized awnings were also to be installed over each window.

Afterwards Hervé Lavalle and his team would be along to do the interior wood and molding refurbishing. The exterior and interior wall finishes would be done by Excellent Decors. They would be using Trowel Plastics finishes.

The electricians from Pearly Lights would visit after them, retrofitting the entire house with LED lighting on the inside. Jason insisted on getting the best illumination for each area. Especially Raquel’s work area.

Finally Green Fingers landscaping and gardening services would ensure that there was an organic garden, appropriate greenery around the house in addition to adequate shady areas for relaxation.

All of this was supposed to be executed in twenty weeks. There wouldn’t be much time to maneuver if there were any changes. The wedding was in exactly thirty six weeks. Jason gave Cheryl thirty two weeks to complete the job. If all went well they should be finished in twenty eight weeks.

Cheryl set about calling all of the companies involved for a site visit and their explanation of the scope of works. They would submit their quotations along with bills of quantities in two weeks. The site visit was planned for the next Wednesday. This gave Cheryl time to go back to the office with Jérome Lefevre to secure drawings for all parties who would be involved in this massive undertaking.

Jason was dead serious about this dream home. Cheryl had never seen him this possessed before. It seemed he had truly found his soul mate. For now all that they knew was her name. Raquel being inquisitive took a moment to have a drink with Jason.

“Jason, I’ve heard you mention the house inside and out, but you have avoided the appliances and furnishings. Would you like me to help you with these also my friend?”

Jason smiled at Cheryl. “I want to arrange for that when Raquel comes. She suggested an interior designer but I think together with Rosalie, Renee, you, Raquel and myself that together we can manage this. What do you think?”

“Oh I would love that. Whatever we have to do let me know. I am so happy for you,” said Cheryl.

“Thanks for all of your assistance Cheryl. I’ll be depending heavily on you to ensure that all things run on schedule and within budget. Any hitches please let me know at once.”

“I’ll be sure to,” Cheryl responded.
