Chapter 29

Jason and Raquel decided that since they were absolutely sure they wanted to be married, that wedding planning should begin soon.

They decided that they would be a change agent and do things a little differently. They decided to get married in Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands instead of St. Maarten. They also decided that it would be a small outdoor wedding with close friends in a garden type setting.

Raquel and Jason discussed outfits and the colours of their attire. Raquel decided that she would wear a blue sexy column square ruffled knee length dress with straps and a moderate neckline. It would be trimmed with white lace. A white short sleeved Bolero trimmed with fancy blue lace would complete her attire. She would also choose to wear blue medium heel shoes.

Raquel and Jason together chose a white mandarin suit with a blue mandarin shirt to highlight for him. The mandarin would have a thin blue stripe around the collar and a bolder stripe on the pants legs. On the sleeves at the wrists would be four matching blue stripes. Jason would be wearing white or black shoes. They would decide on that later.

Jason would have a white and blue boutonnière; while Raquel’s floral arrangement would be white roses with white chrysanthemums and bluebells complete with blue streaming ribbons.

The bridal party would be resplendent too. The five bridesmaids would be dressed in blue short sleeved dresses made of shining chiffon accentuated with lace. They would also wear blue shoes.

The maid of honour would be stunning as well. Her outfit would be a medium purple colour matching Raquel’s, including the bolero. Her shoes would be white medium heels.

The five groomsmen would wear white double breasted suits. The jackets would have three thin blue stripes on the sleeves close at the wrists and a blue stripe on the pants legs. Their blue shirts would have a white mandarin collar with a thin blue stripe. They would complete the outfits with white shoes.

The best man and the father giver would wear the same outfit Jason would be wearing. The mini-bride would replicate Raquel’s outfit. The Flower girls outfit would replicate that of the Maid of honour and the Page boy’s outfit would replicate that of Jason only that he would have three blue stripes instead of four.

“I like the details,” Jason said.

“I am happy you do,” said Raquel.

For the ceremony they decided to have only a still photographer. Awesome Studio Creations was the choice and they offered an excellent package. One hundred and twenty, five inch by seven inch prints along with two digital cd’s and two thumbnail booklets. They also offered two eight by tens and one huge thirty two by forty inch framed photo. For the music they decided that they would hire someone from the BVI since the logistics would be much easier.

On Virgin Gorda Jason had already checked out the logistics for food. The Happy Food Cluster offered a package which was irresistible. US$25.00 per person, eat and drink all you want. They did not serve alcohol, and this price was inclusive of dessert.

Afterwards Jason and Raquel would honeymoon for two weeks at the Hummingbird Cobblers Resort, a medium sized boutique hotel overlooking the sea. Jason also explained that they’d need to be on island in the BVI at least three weeks before the wedding. This was to facilitate counselling, as well as the acquisition of a marriage license.

They decided that Cheryl was to be their wedding coordinator to ensure that all went as planned and as smoothly as possible on the day.
