Chapter 39
After their cruise they went on to London. They rode first class for the eight hour journey. Jason reminded Raquel of one detail as she had never travelled in first class before.
“Never empty your glass Raquel.”
For starters they had Smoked Shetland salmon tartare with pickled cucumber and radish salad. For lunch Raquel sat in anticipation. They could literally smell the food before they saw it. When it was served they both dived right in. Jason chose a delicious meal of seared fillet of British beef with barbeque sauce, spicy potato wedges and Mediterranean vegetables. Raquel went for roasted corn-fed chicken with summer truffle and wild mushroom sauce, herb mashed potatoes, baby fennel and carrots. Apple juice was their beverage of choice. For dessert they chose vanilla and dulce de leche ice cream, and a selection of fruit and chocolates.
They slept for about two hours and once awake they requested a snack. For snack they had Teoni's handmade shortbread, Beckleberry's fine artisan pastries and a selection of sandwiches featuring chicken Caesar, in addition to Scottish smoked salmon with cream cheese and dill. They also chose cranberry juice.
Ninety minutes after they finished eating they were preparing for landing. They cleared immigration and customs effortlessly. They took a cab and travelled to the Hilton London Metropole. Located on cosmopolitan Edgware Road, the Hilton London Metropole is a high-rise property that towers over its neighbors in London, England. They checked in and were escorted to their twelfth floor room by the bellhop. After such a long trip they were drained.
Jason and Raquel Aurelian showered. Once they were finished they dried off each other. After turning on the a/c they turned on the Television to catch up with any news they would have missed. They checked their emails and closed their tablets.
Jason and Raquel kissed and cuddled. They gently and playfully stroked each other but were too drained to do any further rigorous activity. In about ten minutes they were both fast asleep.
