Chapter 51

Cheryl and Raquel drove to six possible sites for advertising. They identified where the R-Grafix billboards would be placed.

Next they checked for permission and costs of locating the billboards. They were quite happy and thought that they got good deals. They also visited the two television stations. Their appointments to see the advertising and marketing manager there were fruitful and yielded the intended results. The advertising packages which were offered were great value for money.

After this they visited the newspapers and secured advertising space in both their print and online editions. They were happy at how much ground they had covered for the day.

“Let’s have something to eat and retreat back to R- Grafix,” offered Raquel. “Sure,” Cheryl said. They went over to Mango’s Fine Dining and Bistro. The food was delicious and the tropical juices were an excitement for one’s taste buds.

When they arrived back at R-Grafix they had a meeting with Jason. They carefully planned who would do their signage and install it all. This had to be complete in two weeks. Raquel and Cheryl agreed and suggested that all of them retire for the day.

Before they could agree Cheryl intervened and said that she had something she wanted them all to see. Jason and Raquel paid attention. Cheryl invited them all into the conference room. Once seated Cheryl cleared the mystery. A brand new R-Grafix website. Jason and Raquel were stunned.

“How can we ever thank you? This is so good. When can we launch it?”

Jason spoke up. “First I personally want to say thanks. Secondly I am happy and willing to offer you $2,000.00 more per month as our appreciation for your fine work. Finally can we launch it as soon as possible?”

“Sure said Cheryl. It is all ready to go. Just need to register it and park it on the appropriate domain. It is user friendly and I am sure will save us quite a bit of time, in addition to improve our efficiency.”

“Thank you,” said Raquel. She looked at Jason and beamed. “Now can we retire? I am starting to feel a bit tired.” Everyone was happy.

The first six months were an absolute delight. Everyone loved the wonderful signage, and their client list had now topped one hundred. Business was booming and R-Grafix Inc. was now becoming the company of choice for many who were looking for quality work and value for money.

The company expanded with Raquel adding a Desktop Publishing Centre in the city close to the National Community College educational campus. R-Publishing. They hired six more staff to accommodate this. What everyone admired was the speed and accuracy of transactions and the excellent service offered. Raquel made it known to all of her employees that she expected nothing less than excellent customer service. She was determined to see that R-Grafix Inc. would be the company of choice.

One day Raquel noticed that Cheryl was quieter than usual. “Is something wrong?”

“Yes,” said Cheryl, “but can we leave it for later?”

“No you will not. Please share with me what is troubling you.”

“Okay. My mum is ill and in hospital. I am trying my best but she is due for surgery next week. It has been difficult but I think I am managing.” Immediately Raquel rose from here chair and came over to embrace Cheryl.

“Why didn’t you tell me before? Anything you need just ask, ok?”

“Yes Raquel.”

“Matter of fact, take two weeks off. If you need any financial help let me know. I will speak to Jason about it.”

“Thanks.”

“In the meantime you can work from at home. If you have anything pressing please email or call me. I will look for someone temporary to assist while you take care of mom. And remember I am always here for you. So is Jason.”

“Thanks again,” said Cheryl.
