"I can't believe this."

Kayleigh proposed a plan. I bit my finger and looked at the ground to ponder my next move. "My lawyer is going to send you the papers on Monday morning."

"I'll send you a message once I've signed," she said.

On my way home from work on Monday afternoon, Kayleigh's message came through. Belinda was making food when I walked into the kitchen. I handed her the papers.

"What's this?" she asked.

"It's what you wanted. Congratulations, we're getting a divorce."

She gaped while perusing the papers. "What the hell is this all about?"

"Don't play dumb with me, Belinda. I know about Kayleigh."

Her lips parted, and her eyes widened. "She told you?"

"Yes."

"Okay, maybe getting her to spy on you wasn't the right thing to do, but how can you divorce me over that?"

"Nice try. She told me about you wanting me to sleep with her so that you can file for divorce and take the house and the cars."

She grimaced. "What? That's preposterous. I never wanted her to sleep with you. She was supposed to follow you to see if you were having an affair with other women, not her. Why would I want my husband to sleep with another woman?"

"To get my possessions. Too late. I already signed everything I owe over to her. Don't even bother trying to get anything off of me."

"Nick, have you lost your mind? Go call her now and tell her to transfer everything back onto your name. Keep everything. I don't care."

The solemnity in her tone and expression faded my smirk. I dashed to my phone and called Kayleigh. "Please, tell me that you were going to transfer everything back into my name after my divorce," I said.
