The Owl, The Swan, The Wolf

by

Robby Richardson

It was a quiet evening just after dusk

When sun has set and pressed it’s luck

Before the stars begin to shimmer over a lake reflecting diamond's glimmer

Did three animals meet by chance subtle as a moonlit dance

To talk about a land still untamed, still magical not the same

Untouched by a destructive hand...the hand of man

It took a minute for the animals to speak for they hardly ever meet

But as a whole they are complete

[Owl]

I am the Owl, wise and learned through time, I see the wisdom in all mankind

Their crowning achievements and power to save

The science that creates a better day and the wisdom to put guns away

To save a runaway and lets them live to an old age

   [Wolf]

HA, old age for an old page, they listen to what I say violent ways

They create these dark days then pray for peace on Sundays

Intelligence...the hell with it, wisdom makes a hell of it

Fine line between insanity and genius, swan you see this

Believing this, the day the violence dies I’ll be missed

[Swan]

Pure white as a fresh snow let my wings unfold

Brightens any darkness even the Wolf bows slightly under my glow

I am beauty of and within everything

From the loneliest flower or mountain tower

The laugh of a child or an animal in the wild

From clouds of bright or sunshine light

The beauty in an underdog winning the fight

The beauty in health that cures the sick

The end of a long life in time’s last tick

The beauty of trust an in true love, the beauty from below and above

Beauty that rises out of complete destruction

The flower that yearns to be more than just...something

[Wolf]

Beauty is only skin deep in the eyes of the beholder

Underneath it all the story grows colder

Man is blind to what they're living only seeing the wolf within it

Beauty is in the hunt...the glory in the kill

Gaining the upper hand, that’s a beauty you’ll never understand

[Swan]

The beauty beyond the broken road and shattered bond

The destruction of all that remains beauty will always be the same

Rising like a phoenix steady and true to make the world anew

Even you are beautiful my friend, a mystery trapped in a snow capped mountain

But when it sounds what does man doth fear…

[Wolf]

They fear and danger that draw near

[Swan]

No, the beauty it brings when touches thy ear

A place where animals still remain first…

[Wolf]

That somewhere deep in the world evil still lurks

[Owl]

Will you two stop it...your arguing doesn’t appease

What do you both hope to achieve

Like mankind’s worker violence only travels in a circle

Blood only gets redder fighting like men...we’ll become no better

And within that silence so died the violence

Returning to whatever greeted them whether by fate or a delirium

They would return when the world needed them

The End
