Chapter 46: back to the foundation:

We continued to enjoy our meal, relishing every bite. The food was exceptionally delectable, from the marvelous steaks to the perfectly cooked fries and mashed potatoes. Even Rythmeus joined us, partaking in the culinary delight.

It was a truly delightful moment that we shared together, savoring the flavors and creating a warm atmosphere.

A couple of minutes passed, and we concluded our meal. Describing the food we had just consumed as amazing and delicious would be an immense understatement. Both Derek and I were thoroughly content.

Me: Wow… that was truly remarkable…

Derek: I couldn’t agree more! I have never tasted anything so exquisite before! Thank you, Rythmeus…

Rythmeus: You are both most welcome. Now, Liran, please enlighten us about your plans.

Me: Well, now that we have dealt with the Black King, our next step is to address that foundation once again…

Rythmeus: What is your intended course of action at the foundation?

Me: Derek and I will assess the situation and determine how we can assist the foundation rather than allowing them to continue sacrificing innocent individuals.

Rythmeus: I see. Should I accompany you and Derek?

Me: Hm… For now, it would be best if you remained here. Derek and I will return to the location and investigate it ourselves.

Rythmeus: I understand. Take care and stay safe out there…

But first, you should rest. It’s quite late now. Shall I escort you both to your bedrooms?

Me: Hmm… Yes, that sounds good. Let’s go.

Rythmeus: Very well, please follow me.

Rythmeus led the way, and we rose from our seats, moments later following him.

After a few minutes of walking, we arrived at an enormous door. It dwarfed even the other doors, which were already spacious enough for Rythmeus to pass through.

Me (thoughts): This is peculiar. This isn’t the door that leads to my room or Derek’s room…

Rythmeus then opened the door, revealing a grand bedroom beyond.

Rythmeus: Please, come inside.

He proceeded to approach the magnificent bed situated at the far end of the room and settled upon it.

Derek and I also approached the colossal bed, managing to climb onto it and positioning ourselves beside Rythmeus.

Derek: Um… so this is our “bedrooms”?

Rythmeus: Indeed it is. I merely played a little trick on you both.

Me: Heh, you won’t hear me complaining. I don’t mind at all…

Rythmeus then gently pulled us closer to him on the bed.

Derek: This is… something I can’t quite wrap my head around…

Rythmeus: I understand. Now, it’s time for you two to sleep. Goodnight.

We closed our eyes, and after a few minutes, we peacefully drifted off to sleep.

GOD(MIDDLE) (FROM THE FOUNDATION)’S POV:

It has been quite some time since we last encountered Liran. Despite numerous attempts to locate him, our efforts have proven fruitless. It’s as if Liran is not truly human. We were unable to track him, see his face, or even sense his presence.

Yet, he appeared human, and even if he is, how did he possess such extraordinary powers prior to his arrival at our foundation? And how did he manage to escape with his cosmic companion as if nothing had transpired?

It defied all logic!

I am one of the mightiest beings from the realms of chaos, alongside other gods and entities who collaborate within this foundation. And yet, this “human”… confronted us and slipped away without a trace. This “human” or rather, this entity, is an enigma.

Me: Hm…

A researcher entered our room, breaking my train of thought.

Researcher: Sir! Have we made any progress in locating Liran?

Me: No, he remains elusive for now. However, we do possess some information about him.

Researcher: Understood. We will dispatch additional personnel to pursue him. I assure you, we will capture him and bring him back here.

Me: Very well. Proceed as planned. I shall await their findings.

Me: …

Silence enveloped the room as I contemplated the mystery of Liran and the challenges we faced in capturing him. It was evident that our conventional methods and understanding fell short in dealing with this enigmatic being.

The room seemed to resonate with an air of uncertainty as we grappled with the implications of Liran’s existence and his ability to outmaneuver us. It was a humbling reminder that even among the gods and powerful beings within our foundation, there were still mysteries beyond our comprehension.

I knew that we needed to devise a new strategy, perhaps explore unconventional avenues, to uncover the truth behind Liran and his cosmic companion. Until then, all we could do was wait and prepare for the next encounter, hoping to gain further insights into this extraordinary anomaly.

LIRAN’S POV:

After a few hours, we finally awoke to the morning light. As I opened my eyes, I noticed Rythmeus and Derek cuddled together.

Me (thoughts): Wow…

Rythmeus: Looks like you’re awake.

Me: ?!... Were you even sleeping?

Rythmeus: Well, I could sleep if I wanted to, but I don’t mind staying awake. I have no need for sleep at all.

Me: I see. And it seems like you’re making Derek quite comfortable… hehe…

Rythmeus: I know. He’s a good human.

After a brief moment, Derek also began to stir, slowly opening his eyes and glancing at Rythmeus.

Derek: ?!... Damn, you startled me for a second… heh…

Rythmeus: My apologies if I startled you, but at least you’re here, safe…

Derek: I understand. So, what is our plan now?

Me: Let’s prepare ourselves and then return to that foundation, alright?

Derek: Alright…

A few more hours passed, and we made the necessary preparations to venture out once again.

I recalled Rythmeus mentioning a secret door in one of the alleys, a door that could grant us entry into the protected domain of the gods within the foundation. However, opening that door would prove to be a daunting task due to the immense powers guarding it.

As we continued walking through the city, exploring various alleys, we eventually entered a peculiar one. At the end of this alley stood a door that seemed different from the rest.

Me: Hey, do you see that door?

Derek: Yeah… let’s approach it.

We moved closer to the door, now standing before it.

Me: It appears to be locked. Can you try to open it?

Derek: I’ll give it a shot.

Derek wore the special gloves crafted by Rythmeus, designed to handle powerful beings and aid in various tasks.

Derek: Actually… I’ll give the door a punch.

He clenched his fist, preparing to strike, and with a powerful punch, the door swung open easily.

Me: Nicely done!

With a single punch from Derek, the door yielded, allowing us passage.

Derek: Liran, come here.

I approached Derek and stepped through the doorway, gazing down at the descending stairs.

Me: Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s proceed.

Derek: Absolutely.

And so, we began descending the stairs, ready to face whatever awaited us in the depths of the foundation…
