Rare mobs drop fairly better loot then other mobs. Most of the time they drop greens, and sometimes (but rarely) blues. It really matters on what mob you encounter. Here is a list of some of the best rare mobs you should hunt down.
Normal Rare CreepsCrippler
Zone: Terokkar Forest
Location: Found in Bone Wastes or Auchindoun. Harder to kill him as a melee class because of the high armor buff he gets when he reaches less than 51% life.

Zone: Hellfire Peninsula
Location: Near Hellfire Citadel or Zeth'Gor.

Bog Lurker
Zone: Zangarmarsh- Terokkar Forest
Location: Umbrafen/Feralfen/Daggerfen Village.
Coilfang Emissary
Zone: Zangarmarsh
Location: Around one of the four steam pumps. Can be a bit tricky because of the frostbolt/arcane explosion she does however, this character is still capable of being soloed.

Location: Veil Reskk/Shienor/Skith/Shalas

Doomsayer Jurim
Zone: Terokkar Forest
Location: Roaming near Shattrath and Firewing Point. He uses incinerate, shadowbolt, and fear. Just make sure you're at full life and mana before engaging him. Be careful if he's near Shattrath. Be careful because he can be aggroed and killed by guards in which case you would not get the loot he drops.
The Husk
Zone: Western Plaguelands

Goretooth
Zone: Nagrand
Location: Most of the places with water in Nagrand. He can be underwater so he's one of your best chance to get a rare monster if you're looking for them.

Location: Circling around Manaforge B'naar or Ara/Ultris.

Location: Manaforge Ara or Ultris or Duro. Lorthander can enter Manaforges and could be a little more hard to find than most.

Elite Rare Creeps- (Non-Soloable)
Fulgorge
Zone: Hellfire Peninsula
This creep will go underground and reappear at a random location near you. This creep roams randomly in Hellfire Peninsula.

Marticar
Zone: Zangarmarsh
This creep doesn't deal much damage but he has a nasty ray that could deal a large amount of damage. He roams randomly through Zangarmarsh.

Hemathion
Zone: Blade's Edge Mountains
You will only find him in the flying mount accessible zone which is west of Blade's Edge Mountains. He's immune to fire but easily defeatable if you have a Tank/Healer/DPS group.

Morcrush
Zone: Blade's Edge Mountains
Like all stone giants he will use a war stomp and split every 25% of his health. He can spawns everywhere in east Blade's Edge so it's hard to find him.

Nuramoc

Kraator
Zone: Shadowmoon Valley
This creep can summon adds and may conflagrate during the fight. This creep spawns nearly everywhere in Shadowmoon so he is difficult to locate.

Collidus the Warp-Watcher
Zone: Shadowmoon Valley
This creep deals a large amount of elemental damage with a ray that may kill your tank if you don't have proper healing. This creep roams randomly following three straight lines through Shadowmoon Valley Click Here for loot table and exact location
Angerclaw Maulers are a great source of money when you are level 48-53. Alsoit’s abigplus if you’re askinner, these guys have great vendor trash and are skinnable. They have decent green drop rates and re-spawn extrememly fast. Killing this mob alone will make you about 50 gold an hour!

Scalding Whelps (83, 33). The Badlands is the place to beatif you’relevel39-42, these guys are great for grinding and even better for farming. Also, these creeps are a majorplusif you’rea skinner. They also have a chance of dropping Dark Whelpling which sell for upwards of 200+ gold! (CLICK HERE for most recent price)

Blood Elves (55, 29) are an excellent mob to farm and are found Near the Legash Encampment in Azshara, there are lots of Blood Elves in this location with an insane drop rate on Runecloth. Now on my server, Runecloth goes for more than Netherweave, also they have really nice drop rate for blue and green items. Overall, an excellent mob to farm!

Anguished Highbornes (53, 43) are just southwest of Everlook and have a really nice drop rate for Runecloth (23.6%), green items, and blue items, as well as a nice coin drop. Also every week, Princess Tempestria spawns and she drops some rare loot that you can sell for hundreds of gold at the auction house!

Cloths can be found in the northeastern part of Felwood (43, 14) you can find a lot of Hellcallers, Betrayers, and Tricksters in this region. These guys don't drop a ton of great items but you will get a large amount of Runecloth and Felcloth which sells for decent cash at the Auction House.

Twilight Stonecallers (39, 44) and Twilight Avengers (38, 41) In Silithus are excellent mobs to farm. There are 2 encampments with tons of Twilight creeps there. These mobs have good coin drop, runecloth, lots of green items, some blues, and the Hand of Edward. This is the best place to be at level ~57 if you want to farm.
