Chapter 82
Will god judge America? yes, He has to, because we have failed to judge ourselves. Our nation has embraced every form of vice known to man and has approved of them. We have neglected to restrain ourselves and therefore have corrupted ourselves. Today, our government, for a great part, has become a self-serving entity bringing our nation into spiritual, financial, and moral chaos. But, let there be no mistake about this, the results of governmental failures are directly related to the sin of the people. 
“We the People” are the culprits, because we have failed to teach our children the way of righteousness and to establish a moral way of living.
Many American pastors, prophets, historians, and leaders have felt Impressed to deliver warnings concerning the future of America. On november 1st of 2008 a Letter to the editor in our local paper submitted a teaching from history as quoted by Professor Joseph Olson, Hamline University school of Law, st. Paul, Minnesota.1 “some 2,000 years before the adoption of the U.s. Constitution, Alexander Tyler, a history professor at the University of edinburgh said about the fall of the Athenian republic: ‘A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that democracy will finally collapse, which is always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been about 200 years. During those 200 years those nations have always progressed through the following sequence. (1) From bondage to spiritual faith (2) From spiritual faith to courage (3) From courage to liberty (4) From liberty to abundance (5) From abundance to apathy (6) From apathy to dependence (7) From dependence back into bondage.”2
America has been in the dependence phase for decades and is currently coming full swing into bondage. When we put our trust in man, we begin to lose our freedoms.
Since the beginning of time, evil men have sought to control and make slaves out of weaker men and women. Different forms of rule are employed to accomplish such purposes. Some use a monarch like a king or a queen, others like the communists use dictatorships, and others such as the two party system in America use democrats and republicans. Each party is continually fed information to keep them stirred against the opposing party, while the evil rulers march freely on with their diabolical scheme to put everyone into bondage. Due to disinformation and manipulation by the media and information sources, the oppressors accomplish their plans and purposes stealthily. Although we sing the The Star Spangled Banner, the national Anthem about “the land of the free and the home of the brave’’3, Americans are seeing their freedoms being eroded at an alarming rate.
America was purchased with the blood of patriots in years gone by, and patriots will again have to come out of the woodwork if America will again cast off the current yoke of bondage. But as I said earlier, the change must begin with, “We the People,” and it has to start with a spiritual renewal and repentance from lawlessness. There is no need to worry about evil tyrants that desire to control and destroy us; those people are just doing what they were designed to do. Scripture says, “The Lord has created all things for Himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.”4 They are no more in control of tomorrow than I am, and they are no match for God whenever ‘We the People’ decide to repent. Scripture says, “God judges the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.”5 If we will study the Bible, we will find that God always wins in the end!
Statistics estimate that from 1973 to 2008 Americans have selfishly murdered an estimated 50 million innocent children through the heinous crime of abortion. The Bible is very explicit about the shedding of innocent blood, and there is no blood more innocent than the blood of an infant within the womb of its mother. We have shed the most innocent blood of our unborn children in order to adulterate ourselves in immoral lifestyles.
A pastor was asked what he thought about some of the heinous crimes that were being committed in our country. His reply was, “When considering the depth of the wickedness of man’s heart, I am not surprised at anything I hear relating to how humans treat other humans.” We sing America the Beautiful6, however, our country may be physically beautiful, but it is not spiritually beautiful.
Now, because of our sin and lawlessness, we should all understand that certain judgments will take place in our country. The sins of abortion, licentious lifestyles, moral and ethical corruption, and other sinful appetites guarantee god’s judgment on our land. These judgments will come in various forms, some of which are listed in the following chapters. Scripture says, “When Your (God’s) judgments are in the earth the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.”7The real question now is, “How great must the judgments be, and how long will it take for us to learn righteousness?”
