Chapter 83

Judgment By Famine

Jim shares…

In the late 70’s shortly after I embraced yahushua (Jesus), I was watching a religiious broadcasting station when I first heard the missionary Mark Buntain speak. At the time he was living in Calcutta, India. He, his wife, Huldah, and their young daughter had been missionaries to Calcutta since 1954. He was in the states to raise money for the children he was feeding in India. Mark shared a touching story. He said that one day he was crying out to god for more funds to help feed the children. He was at the time feeding a large number (about 1000) of children each day a cup of powdered milk each and a slice of bread. He related how he was crying one day concerning the lack of food for these children, and the Holy spirit dealt with him. The Holy spirit told him not to cry for the children of India, because the lifestyle these children have is all they know. Instead, he should cry for America, because when these conditions come to America, and they will come, people will not know how to react to living on such meager rations. This Word was given over 40 years ago. Few believe that America could ever go through such a condition as Mark and Huldah Buntain witnessed in Calcutta. However, as the Lord said, “They will come.” We should, therefore, each examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith so that we can lean on Him in coming times of trouble.

Another incident relating to famine involved Carol Lever-good, author of the book, God’s Recipe, published in 1981.1 in 1973, she was Impressed by the Lord to go on an ezekiel Bread Fast for 40 days. Through prayer Carol had received a revelation from the Holy spirit detailing the correct amounts and ingredients used to make ezekiel Bread as listed in the scriptures in the Book of ezekiel.2 she was invited on the 700 Club television show to be interviewed about her book. While at the 700 Club she had a vision before being interviewed by Rev. Pat Robinson. “America will one day face one of its toughest battles ever,” she reiterated. I relate the story as written by Carol Levergood as an insert that came with her book.

As she was walking down the hall of the CBn studio, preparing to go on the show, she had the following vision. She was, by vision, transported to a major street in a city like new york. As she looked across the street there were people everywhere, and they were starving to death. Famine had come upon the land, and there was no food. No matter where she looked people were starving to death. Then as she turned the corner she witnessed a mother eating her dead child. She was horrified at the sight she was seeing in the vision. Then, as quickly as she had the vision, these words came to her concerning her vision. “You must warn the people of what is coming. Do not alarm the people, only warn them.”3 A scripture in Jeremiah 19:9 confirms the visions. “And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend in the siege and straightness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their lives, shall straiten them.”4

God has confirmed to me that this vision is true and that these things will be coming to pass in America’s future. Since that time numerous men and women have also confirmed and warned people of a coming famine. Scripture says, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows that shall he also reap.”5 America, a nation founded on the principles of god’s Word, has long forsaken its calling and vision.
