Chapter 10

Your Freewill and Its Power of Initiation

“Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?” – John 6:28

THE idea that you’re a free moral agent is not an empty phrase. That means as a free moral agent you have a will, and with that comes great power and responsibility to direct your thought, action and reaction the way you desire; with that comes the ability to consciously initiate a plan and work positively towards it; and with that free will comes the force to determine the direction and the shape your life will take.

Perhaps that is why you’re more than the wonders of the workings of nature, more than the fascination of the work of arts, more than the inspiring awe of science and invention, and more than the expression of words in figures and numbers! . . .

Hitherto what we have accomplished thus far with our free will is debase. . .

[Tragically], . . . unlike Jesus who was crucified between two thieves by His enemies, the problem is, for most of us, we are the one responsible for own our crucifixions. . . [We are our own enemies].

Often when you are taking a decision, you don’t think about your will power. You just take that decision having weighed the pros and cons. That is how you have been programmed; you just will yourself into taking a decision without any external effort.

If most of the decisions we take are often based on strenuous and conscious effort, then even some of those simple, daily acts or activities such as walking, talking and other general activities of life would be extremely difficult, multi-tasking and would perhaps demand much of our effort. But thank God they are not! . . .

Your decision will always follow the leading of your willpower, and your willpower will always follow the leading of your decision. It is vice-versa. . .

No one has ever attain the level of success he (or she) so much desires without his (or her) decision and will coming together, agreeing and working towards the same goal! Every decision-making must pay attention to the will, and every will must invariably pay attention to the process of decision-making [if there must be a positive outcome] . . .
